Live Betting Hedge Strategy
Live betting creates unique hedging opportunities as odds shift dramatically during games. You can lock in guaranteed profits or reduce risk by betting the opposite side of your original pre-game wager at favorable in-play odds.
When to Consider Live Hedging
- Big Swings: Game momentum shifts dramatically in your favor, creating +EV hedge opportunity
- Injury Concerns: Key player on your team gets hurt mid-game
- Large Exposure: Big bet amount where locking in profit makes sense for bankroll management
- Parlay Last Leg: First 3 legs hit, now hedge the final leg for guaranteed profit
- Misjudged Bet: Realize mid-game you made a mistake or new information emerges
Full vs Partial Hedge
Lock in guaranteed profit regardless of outcome. Best for risk management, large bets, or when hedge odds are very favorable.
Keep some upside while reducing risk. Good when you still like your original bet but want insurance.
Maximum profit potential but full risk remains. Choose when hedge odds are poor or you're confident in original bet.
Live Hedging Example
You bet $100 on Lakers +7.5 (+110) pregame. Lakers are now WINNING by 10 with 5 minutes left. Live odds: Lakers -6.5 (-200). Original bet looking great, but anything can happen.
Hedge Strategy: Bet $63 on opponents +6.5 (+180) to guarantee ~$35 profit either way, or let it ride for full $110 profit if Lakers hold on.
Remember: Every hedge reduces your max profit. Only hedge when the risk/reward makes sense for your situation. Don't hedge every bet just because you can - that's -EV over time if your original bets are +EV.

Responsible Gambling
Gambling should be entertaining, not a way to make money. Only bet what you can afford to lose, and never chase your losses.
